What should I expect at my first visit?

For your first time seeing one of our therapists fill out a confidential health history form to ensure massage is safe for your condition. We will review all the information you provide and discuss your main areas of concern for this treatment.

Can I have massage when I am sick?

It depends. For some symptoms massage is very helpful, for instance if you are sick with menstrual cramps or morning sickness or hang-over, massage is very helpful. In general massage is not suggested in the case of fever, especially if it is high. In the case of achy muscles, that you think is a flu coming on, massage is sometimes very helpful and also very good for and of flu or other sickness that has had one resting for long periods of time.

DO I have to take my clothes off during the treatment?

No. There are many conditions, including strained muscles, that can be treated while the client is fully clothed. A client may prefer to remove clothing that feels restrictive, however a therapist can work through several layers of clothing while treating numerous conditions.

I've had therapeutic massages before that were so painful I could hardly last the full treatment and I felt even worse afterwards! I want to get rid of this condition, but do I have to suffer that much during a treatment?

Absolutely not! Only you can determine what an acceptable level of pain is for you. While some conditions are harder to treat without some level of discomfort, the choice is always yours to continue with a treatment the way it is, ask the therapist to modify the treatment, or terminate the treatment altogether. Some people prefer more aggressive treatments, while others prefer a gentler approach.

I prefer to have a female therapist working on me, particularly when I have my shirt off. I don't like the idea of a man in that space.

Most people don't really care what gender their therapist is, as long as they receive a satisfactory and professional treatment. However, some clients have personal preferences for one gender or the other. If you do not wish to try a male therapist, let us know and we will be happy to provide you with female therapists that may be able to help you. If you decide (despite your initial reservations) to try a male therapist and feel uncomfortable once the session begins, you can terminate the session and will not be charged for the full time.

What areas are worked on during a typical full body massage treatment?

A full body massage generally includes your back, the back of your legs, front of your legs, arms and hands, neck, shoulders, face and scalp.

What Will The Massage Feel Like?

In general a massage session may start with broad, flowing strokes which will help to calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massages are most effective when your body is not resisting.

What should I do after a massage?

After a massage, a person may feel light headed. It is advisable to drink lots of water following the massage to help the body remove the released acids and metabolic waste. In general, most clients find they have increased mobility, a reduction of soreness and a general feeling of relaxation.

How often do I need to go, and how long will I have to keep going for massage?

It really depends on the individual and their particular condition. If you are suffering from a serious pain, you may need more therapy in the beginning and less therapy as the pain level decreases. If you are just going for relaxation, you may only need once per month. After treating you, your therapist can give you a guideline as to how often they think you should come.
